Bijapur, Karnataka officially known as Vijayapura, is well known for its historical monuments of architectural importance built during the rule of the Adil Shahi dynasty.The foundation of this historic city was laid during the reign of the Chalukyan dynasty of Kalyani between the 10th and 11th centuries.The Adil Shahis encouraged building activity to such an extent that Vijayapura itself has over 50 mosques, more than 20 tombs and a number of palaces. Vijayapura is mainly famous for Gol-Gumbaz, Jumma Masjid, Bara Kamaan, Gajanan Temple, Ibrahim Roza,Taj Bawdi, Malik-e-Maidan, Methar Mahal, Gagan Mahal, Jala Manzil, Upli Burj, Shivagiri, Siddeshwar Temple etc. Badami, formerly known as Vatapi,was the regal capital of the Badami Chalukyas from AD 540 to 757. It is famous for its rock cut structural temples. Hampi is an ancient village in the south Indian state of Karnataka. It’s dotted with numerous ruined temple complexes from the Vijayanagara Empire. On the south bank of the River Tungabhadra is the 7th-century Hindu Virupaksha Temple, near the revived Hampi Bazaar. A carved stone chariot stands in front of the huge Vittala Temple site.

Itinerary

Departure from Pune to Bijapur ( 7 hrs Drive, 321 km). after reaching Bijapur  we will checkin to the hotel and have lunch . Post lunch we will have Sightseeing at Bijapur, which covers
Gol Gumbaz :This magnificent monument was constructed by the architect Yaqut of Dabul, in the year 1656.  Inside the gigantic dome, "whispering gallery" runs around. These are named so because even the slightest of the sound can be heard on the other side due to the acoustics of the space. The construction of Gol Gumbaz started in the year 1626 AD, and it took about a span of 30 years to complete its structure. It is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
Ibrahim Rouza:Also known as The Taj Mahal of the Deccan, it is home to the remains of the Adil Shah ruler Ibrahim Adil Shah II and his wife Taj Sultana.
Gagan Mahal:Built by Adil Shah I in 1561, Gagan Mahal or endearingly known as Heavenly Mahal (Sky Mahal) is known for its architectural finesse and design. Boasting of three arches, the two stoteyed monument had the Darbar Hall on the ground floor and the upper storey was supposed to be the residence for the royal family.
Bara Kamaan:Built in 1672 AD by Adil Shah II, Bara Kaman is an unfinished structure situated in Bijapur. The structure was supposed to have twelve arches vertically and horizontally surrounding the mausoleum of the king and his wives. However, the mausoleum and the arches was left unfinished as Adil Shah II was murdered by his own father and the construction of Bara Kaman was left incomplete.
 Evening we will have free time for shopping followed by a dinner . Overnight at Bijapur

Cave Temples Badami The Cave Temples of Badami consist of four separate temples, each holding intricate carvings and depictions. These carvings depict Shiva and Vishnu in various avatars in the first 3 temples, representing the Brahmanical style. The fourth temple is dedicated to Jain Tirthankar Agastya Lake Said to possess healing powers, this lake faces all the caves of Badami and is surrounded by the red sandstone temples. Aihole Home to over 125 beautiful Chalukyan temples and monuments, Aihole is a historical site in Bagalkot, Karnataka. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and is surrounded by marvellous sandstone hills and villages on the banks of the Malaprabha River. It was formerly the capital of the Chalukya Dynasty with over 100 Hindu and Jain temples dating back to around 6th to 12th century. Today, Aihole is a prominent centre for temple architecture and intricate stonework.
After the sightseeing and lunch, latter in the evening we will drive to Hospet . Check in to the hotel and diner. Overnight at Hospet.                     

 After Breakfast , we will proceed for  sightseeing of Hampi  Virupaksha Temple Hampi The Virupaksha temple (or Prasanna Virupaksha temple) is located on the banks of the Tungabhadra river at Hampi, Karnataka. Built during the 7th century, the beautiful architecture and history of the temple has made it a UNESCO World Heritage site.  it was once a smaller shrine in the middle of the ancient and majestic Vijayanagar empire. You will find beautiful stone inscriptions dating back to the 7th century on the walls of the temple as proof of its rich heritage. Vithala Temple

The most impressive structure in Hampi, the Vithala Temple dates back to the 16th century and is a truly splendid example of rich architecture. The famous stone chariot, which has become an iconic symbol of the architecture of Hampi, is located inside the premises of this temple.
 Post lunch latter in the evening we will return back to hotel for dinner. Overnight at Hospet.

After breakfast and checkout we will Drive back to Pune.
