Bharatpur is a city in the state of Rajasthan. The city is situated 180 km south of New Delhi, 178 km from Rajasthan's capital Jaipur, 55 km west of Agra of Uttar Pradesh and 38 km from Mathura of Uttar Pradesh. It is also the administrative headquarters of Bharatpur District. Bharatpur is part of National Capital Region (NCR) of India. The city was the capital of the erstwhile, Bharatpur State.
Bharatpur is also home to one of the world's best-known bird watching destinations, Keoladeo Ghana National Park (KNP). 250 years ago, the then ruler built embankments that allowed flooding of this land, turning it into a marsh. It is a World Heritage Site.

Itinerary

This morning, drive by your own vehicle from Delhi to Bharatpur. The distance from Delhi to Bharatpur is about 200 kms which takes about 4 hours.Upon arrival in Bharatpur, check in at Regenta Resort which offers a glimpse into the state's rich regal past with a modern touch. A swimming pool, spa, indoor activities and a fitness centre are some of the other recreational facilities provided at the resort. (facilities may be restricted due to health protocol). Dinner at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

This morning after breakfast, proceed to Keoladeo Ghana National Park to enjoy your bird safari. The best way to enjoy your safari is by a cycle rickshaw which are available at the gate of the park. If you do not wish to hire a rickshaw then you also have the option to hire your own bicycle (Cost of safari/rickshaw/bicycle not included in package cost). In the afternoon you could visit some interesting places around Bharatpur which include the Deeg Fort Palace situated 32 Kms away. It was built in 1772 as a luxurious summer resort for the rulers of Bharatpur State. Other places of interest include Fatehpur Sikri which is the abandoned capital Emperor Akbar and located just 20 kms away. Then there is the Lohagarh Fort of Bharatpur which is one of the strongest forts ever built. In the evening return to your resort for dinner. Overnight at the resort.

This morning drive back to Delhi. You have the option of visiting Mathura, the birth place of Lord Krishna en-route on your way back to Delhi.
